Chris Evans was forced to pull out of his BBC Radio 2 show after receiving news his mother Minnie had died aged 92.
The BBC presenter’s colleague Vassos Alexander, who reads the sport on his breakfast show, took over at the last minute and read a note explaining Chris’s absence to listeners.
Speaking on the show, Alexander said: ‘Chris isn’t here. He has been here. But he had to go just before we went on air. But he’s left a note for me to read out on air.
