Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc’s second episode of Top Gear lost a third of viewers who tuned in for the debut episode last week.
The BBC confirm that ‘an average of 2.8 million viewers tuned in to the second instalment of the new series on Sunday evening – 1.6 million fewer than the first episode’.
The viewing figures however peaked towards the end of the episode, with 3.3 million tuning in.
The first episode garnered 4.8 million viewers at its peak – 23% of the audience share for the evening – although host Chris Evans admitted before the rebooted series aired that anything less than 5 million would be ‘disappointing’.
